At Moorong Veterinary Clinic, we are committed to providing accessible, high-quality veterinary care while also supporting the wellbeing of the team who care for your pets.
We will be extending our clinic opening hours and changing how emergency veterinary care is provided outside those hours.
Our Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8:00am–7:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am–2:00pm
These extended hours will provide greater access to routine appointments and allow us to offer additional urgent care appointments in the evenings and on Saturdays.
Urgent Care During Opening Hours
If you are concerned about your pet during our opening hours, please call the clinic.
You will speak with one of our experienced team members, who will ask questions about your pet’s condition and help determine how urgently they need to be seen. Where needed, we will arrange an urgent care appointment with one of our veterinarians.
Calling ahead allows our team to prepare for your arrival and ensure your pet receives the most appropriate care as quickly as possible.
Changes to Our After-Hours Emergency Service
Outside our clinic opening hours, Moorong Veterinary Clinic will be temporarily ceasing its overnight emergency service.
If your pet requires emergency veterinary attention outside our opening hours, you will be referred to the local 24-hour veterinary clinic for assessment and treatment.
Why Are We Making This Change?
Many people may not realise that the veterinarian caring for their pet during the day may also have been the veterinarian responding to emergency calls throughout the night.
Providing overnight emergency care in addition to a full day of consultations and surgery places significant pressure on veterinary teams and can affect their opportunity to rest and recover.
This change is an important step in supporting the wellbeing of our veterinarians and nurses in creating a safer, more sustainable service for the future.
A well-rested veterinary team is better able to provide focused, compassionate and high-quality care to every patient.
What This Means for You
You will continue to have access to:
- Extended weekday opening hours from 8:00am to 7:00pm
- Longer Saturday opening hours from 8:00am to 2:00pm
- Routine and preventative healthcare appointments
- Same-day and urgent care appointments where available
- Telephone triage with a member of our team during opening hours
When Should I Call?
If your pet is unwell, injured or showing signs that concern you, call us as soon as you can.
Where possible, we encourage clients not to wait until late in the day to seek advice. Calling early gives our team the best opportunity to assess your pet and arrange care during our extended opening hours, avoiding an out of hours emergency.
